What Makes Us Different

Since 1829,

our farm has been a diversified family farm. We acquired the farm from Ben Wever whose family had farmed it since its establishment. Each farming generation put their unique style of managing the bounty of what nature provided in this beautiful Reber Valley.

We started with Ben as he showed and taught us about the farm, the work, the animals, the love of this vocation. He slowly transitioned out and we took over more and more until he simply did what he wanted and we took the reins. Ben was the wisest, kindest, smartest, and strongest man we ever knew and we miss him every day. Were still reminded by the pearls of his "Benism's" such as "one herd, one herdsman", or “take your watch off, cows don't care what time it is", or "we’re going to need the precision instruments now" (generally meaning a sledgehammer).

We produce beef, lamb, pork, poultry, eggs, and honey on our farm. We are grass-based nutrition. Everything we produce here was born here, and it all has the character, taste, and constituents of our farm in the Reber Valley and the Adirondack Park. We believe that truly local food carries the "terroir" (a French winemaking term) of the place and the stewards who raised it. In order to truly impart "terroir" the soil, which is the living skin of our plant, must be healthy and vibrant. We always look to the soil as the basis of our management decisions. Therefore, our grasslands are vibrant and our livestock thrives.

“Our grasslands are vibrant and our livestock thrives.”
